Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

Hi everybody! I’ve decided to start a new blog! I previously had one on blogger but I never put much effort into it. Now that I have a business going, I thought I’d make a new one for a fresh start! This blog will be dedicated to, not only my business, but other things I enjoy. I love being creative and that isn’t limited to bridal hangers. 🙂  Plus writing has always helped me keep a sane mind so hopefully you all will enjoy what I have in store!

I figured this first entry can be a little background on me and my life. If you know me from my Etsy shop (rlhcreations) then you only get a brief glimpse into my life. If you know me from Instagram (rrpalacios2011) then you’ve probably been though my whole wedding planning experience and first year of being a newlywed! If you’re just tuning in, then hopefully I’m an enjoyable read. Lol.

As to who I am…

My name is Regina Palacios and I was born and raised in lovely southern California. I’ve lived in California my entire life (different cities of course) and I don’t see any future plans of leaving. I love it here! From a young age I started drawing and being creative. Anything crafty I could get my hands on, I did. I was the kid that always got crafty gifts for birthdays and holidays. I’m sure my Mom loved my fuzzy drawings, sand art bottles and homemade candles. Lol. When I was in my senior year of high school I discover that I wanted to peruse graphic design as a career. Up until then I had no clue what I wanted to do other than something artsy and creative. My school councilor wasn’t very helpful in this area. He always suggested I become an art teacher but that was never something I wanted to do. When the Art Institute rep came out to our school that’s when I discovered graphic design and knew that was the career for me!

I spent the last few months of high school applying to design schools, getting accepted and then learning they were too much money for my parents to afford. I ended up at a JC for the fall semester before I ended up at Westwood College (of Technology) in January 2003. I finished and received my bachelors degree in 2006. At that point I was already doing graphic design for my current employer but it wasn’t a fulltime gig. I then started working for a local furniture company as an inhouse graphic designer where I still work today. For the most part, it’s enjoyable. Lol.

I met my husband, Ruben, in college back in 2004. Once we got talking we just never stopped. He was getting his degree in animation and by some strange chance we ended up in the same class for 1 term. We dated from 2004-2010 when we finally got engaged! We got married in Maui on a black sand beach on September 9, 2011 to the sounds of crashing waves and a ukulele player in front of a whopping 9 people. Lol. It was perfect!

While planning our wedding, I rediscovered my crafty side. Prior to this I had been hand drawing and vectoring (drawing on the computer) but not really crafting anything. I started teaching other brides (from The Knot 911 iPhone app and Instagram) how to make wire letters on YouTube (rrpalacios2011) using minimal tools. From there I started getting request from other brides to make and sell them on Etsy so that’s what I did. I started my Etsy shop on April 6, 2011. I’m nearing my 400th sale which is really exciting because I never thought my shop would be so successful!

When I’m not at work or working on orders from my shop, I like being crafty/artsy (duh), going to the beach to relax and tan my abnormally white legs, chat with my friends on Instagram (I’m on there all day), going to the movies, hanging out with my hubby Ruben, being an amateur photographer and being active in my business group.

Hopefully that was an enjoyable read! I look forward to adding more posts on here! I have a lot of plans for this blog so I hope you keep reading!
